Nicole Lamar is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who also holds a Master’s degree in Education. She specializes in adoption-related services, clinical social work, educational consulting, and couples counseling, offering a compassionate, informed, and highly individualized approach to care.
Nicole brings both professional expertise and personal experience to her work with adoptive individuals and families. Through her own experiences with adoption, she understands the emotional complexities, challenges, and transformative nature of the process. She is dedicated to supporting clients through every stage of the adoption journey, providing guidance, education, advocacy, and emotional support from the initial planning stages through post-adoption adjustment and transition.
Nicole works collaboratively with individuals and families to help navigate the legal, emotional, educational, and relational aspects of adoption with clarity and confidence. Her goal is to create a supportive and empowering environment where clients feel informed, understood, and prepared throughout the process.
In addition to her adoption-focused work, Nicole specializes in supporting children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Drawing upon her extensive educational background, she provides consultation and support to parents and caregivers navigating the academic, behavioral, emotional, and clinical needs of children with ASD and ADHD. Nicole approaches these diagnoses from a strengths-based perspective, recognizing the unique abilities, resilience, and potential within each child.
Nicole earned her Master’s degree in Social Work in 2004 and began her career working within agency and community-based settings before pursuing her Master’s degree in Education. For the past two decades, she has worked as an elementary school educator and school social worker, while simultaneously providing therapeutic services within private practice settings. Her diverse professional background allows her to integrate clinical insight with educational expertise when supporting children, families, couples, and individuals facing complex emotional and developmental challenges.
Throughout her career, Nicole has worked extensively with clients navigating grief, trauma, loss, family transitions, educational concerns, and life stressors. Over the past eight years, she has also served within the nonprofit sector as an advocate and resource for adoptive families, helping individuals access the support, education, and tools needed to foster healthy family adjustment and long-term well-being.
Nicole’s therapeutic approach is collaborative, compassionate, and client-centered. She tailors treatment and consultation services to meet the unique needs of each individual and family, offering flexible session structures designed to support clients wherever they may be in their personal, therapeutic, or adoption journey.
At the core of Nicole’s work is the belief that healing, growth, and resilience emerge through connection, understanding, and support. She is committed to helping clients navigate life’s transitions with confidence, authenticity, and emotional strength while fostering meaningful and lasting change.
